摘要/Abstract
For extensive practical applications of bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) that have attractive mechanical
and functional properties, cost-effective production in large quantities using industrial raw materials
should be the first consideration. Recently, Fe-based amorphous alloys with cost-effectiveness have
been developed in many multi-component alloy systems aiming at massive structural and functional
applications. However, some key challenges still exist so far such as the conflict between glass-forming
ability and soft magnetic properties, poor mechanical properties at room temperature, the role of
impurities on the glass-forming ability and properties and so on. As an early research team in the
field of amorphous alloys, more efforts has been paid in alloy design, amorphous structure, amorphous
matrix composites, advanced properties at University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) in the
past twenty years. In this talk we will summarize and report the progress about the research of Fe-based
amorphous alloys in the past 6 years at USTB including the following topics: the influences of impurities
and cooling rate on the glass-forming ability and properties, the fabrication of nanocrystalline Fe-based
soft magnetic alloys with the outstanding soft magnetic properties, the enhancement of plasticity at ro
om temperature by changing fabrication methods and so on. By our efforts, hopefully some basic scient
ific questions can be clarified and the application of Fe-based amorphous alloys can be accelerated.
